Don't Throw People In The Pool Anymore

Standing on the balcony of a resort in Las Vegas, my friends and I all started to laugh when we saw this cute girl push this guy into the pool. He teetered on the edge trying to re-gain his balance, but it was to no avail and next thing he was standing waist deep in the pool. He quickly jumped out and pulled his Blackberry out of his pocket but everything was already soaked. "You fucking bitch, why did you do that?!" exclaimed the young man. He was visibly upset, and reasonably so. The girl explained that she did it because the young man had tried to push her in the pool earlier. It's important to remember, what goes around, comes around, especially when it comes to getting pushed in the pool.

In this day and age, getting pushed into the pool is no longer a simple prank. While only a decade earlier it was possible to push your fully clothed friends into the pool as a sort of sophomoric practical joke that resulted in at the very worst soaked shoes, and a wet wallet, these days if you get pushed in the pool fully clothed their is a good chance that you will have a cellphone in your pocket. Losing a cellphone is a real pain in the neck, and if you see someone temporarily freak out and become completely distraught, well thats a reasonable reaction, consider that they will have to waste even more time tracking down everyones contact information, and with items like the Blackberry and iPhone easily running between $200 - 400, you might want to think twice about pushing someone in the pool, as it won't be very funny when you are buying them a replacement phone. Pushing someone in the pool has gone from prank resulting in minor annoyance, to inconsiderate act resulting in a major inconvenience.

With summer quickly approaching, I felt it was important to broach this subject, and establish a new set of guidelines. If you are planning on throwing someone in the pool fully clothed, have the courtesy to make sure they have no valuable electronic devices on their person. If you can't be sure, then you will just have to settle for waiting until they are already in their bathing suit, and then pushing them into the water before they were actually ready to get in.
